Welcome to Scott Ballard Films

Welcome to Scott Ballard Films. I am a Portland-based, award winning director and producer & a freelance cinematographer (with over 10 years experience).

A Standing Still, my second feature film as writer/director (I was also the cinematographer) wrapped up successfully in October 2011. Shot on Super 16mm, 35mm and HD around Washington and Oregon, it is in the editing room now with a spring release in sight. Check out more at it's Facebook page and at www.AStandingStill.com

Welcoming Departure, my first feature film as writer/director wrapped in October 2010. It is currently in post-production for sound design and is on track for an April 2012 release. You can see more about this project at it's Facebook Page and at www.WelcomingDeparture.com

How the Fire Fell, Edward P. Davee's film that I shot has been receiving some great press at it's various screenings - check out the Press tab for more and links to full articles -

Seattle Times: "Cinematographer Scott Ballard's gorgeous, silvery images, the compressed energy of Davee's framing and a remarkable cast make this a unique experience."

IndieWire: "But it’s Davee and DP Scott Ballard who are the stars of “How the Fire Fell,” and the reason it’s worth seeking if and when it receives some sort of proper distribution."
